Question About The Movie Conspiracy Theory?
In the movie Conspiracy Theory, Jerry Fletcher (Mel Gibson) makes a reference to a book that he has to buy everytime he sees it in the store. What is the book? My husband and I couldn’t think of the name.

Catcher in the Rye
the name of the book is The Catcher In The Rye by J.D. Salinger, they make reference because the assasin of John Lennon was reading the book when he killed him, and because the movie is all about conspiracies supposedly the governoment make him to buy the book and read it to make him assasin or something, it is a pretty good book by the way. a classic, hope i helped
yup Catcher in the Rye, not only did the the shooter of John Lennon have a copy in his possession so did John Hinckley Jr. the shooter of Ronald Reagan. Mark David Chapman and Hinckley looked very similar and they shot Lennon and Reagan within weeks of each other. Many conspiracy theorists feel that the Catcher in the Rye was used as some sort of signal to them, that they were programmed to be assassins and that when they read a certain part of the book then something clicked in their head to make them go try to kill their targets. check out the film “The Manchurian Candidate” for more info about this kind of programming.
I believe it was Catcher in the Rye
