Piper is a far-right extremist and well-known anti-semite. The book is full of anti-semitic, nonsensical conspiracy theories.

This book is an exercise in tedium. Boring and poorly written, this book was produced mainly for Piper’s fellow anti-semites who will eat up every pseudo-revelation of Israel’s perfidity. It comes as no surprise to learn that Piper is also a Holocaust denier. Blinded by hate, Piper sees a Jew in every woodpile. The main thing I learned from this book was that apparently it is now possible to prove that ANYBODY killed Kennedy. Just pick candidate and then throw around wild and spurious accusations, then Unfortunately Amazon doesn’t allow ratings in the negative numbers.

With all of the various conspiracy theories about the JFK assassination, it’s probably not surprising that someone would come along and write a book trying to put the blame for the killing on Israel and Jews, the eternal scapegoat. As some of the other reviews here show, some people are all to happy to blame Jews, ‘Zionists’, and Israel for every misdeed under the sun. Building on theories blaming the CIA and the Mafia for the killing, Michael Piper tries to tie the Israeli Mossad in with these traditional targets of blame, but fails to make any rational case for doing so.
In my opinion, having delved into the JFK assassination for many years, the CIA most likely carried out the killing and had plenty of reasons for doing so, none of which involved Israel, Jews, or the Mossad. In fact, documentary filmmaker Linda Moulton Howe has had CIA involvement in the assassination confirmed to her by two independent CIA sources in different parts of the country.
Only bigots like Piper feel a need to tie Israel and Jews in with this horrendous crime. I would advise those thinking of buying this book to save your money and instead buy other available books on the JFK assassination that focus on the real villains in the case and not on scapegoats.

I recently purchased a copy of the fifth edition of this book. In the photograph section (following page 322), Michael Collins Piper says “Robert Welch, founder of the pro-Israel John Birch Society, played a major part in directing attention away from a possible role by the CIA in the JFK assassination… As recently as Nov. 21, 1988, the Birch Society’s New American favorably touted the Warren Commission Report.”
As the author of the lengthy 1988 magazine article Piper is referring to, let me state categorically that neither I, nor the editor nor the publisher, had an agenda to protect either the CIA or Israel. Our sole goal, discussed among ourselves, was to find the truth, and when I initiated my research, I assumed there had been a conspiracy in the Kennedy slaying, based on the plethora of conspiracy theories then being touted.
After wading through dozens of conspiracy books and articles, I then began discovering what I might call the “anti-conspiracy” books. The best of these were probably David Belin’s “November 22, 1963: You Are the Jury” and Edward Jay Epstein’s “Counterplot.” I found these books rationally and objectively exploded various conspiracy theories, showing how the latter had mostly cherry-picked information. I also found that the conspiracy theorists did not effectively rebut Belin and Epstein.
The conclusion that I reached–that Lee Harvey Oswald indeed shot the President from the Texas School Book Depository, and that the “magic bullet” was not so magical after all–was based on careful sifting of the arguments on both sides, and was definitely not the conclusion I thought I would reach when I began my research.
In recent years, it has come to my attention that, contrary to its public image, Israel is no friend of America. The USS Liberty incident, and the tricking of the U.S. into bombing Libya in 1986 (detailed by Victor Ostrovsky) provide ample proof. Therefore when I heard that Michael Collins Piper had written a book showing the Mossad was behind the JFK slaying, I was intrigued. If anyone could have pulled it off, it probably would have been the Mossad.
However, I found Piper’s book disappointing. As the Publisher’s foreword notes: “Don’t look for analysis of `where the shots came from’ or `how many shots were fired’ or `how many assassins were involved.’” Indeed, Piper barely touches on these critical issues. He assumes that other conspiracy theorists have already dealt with these matters, that a conspiracy has already been proven, and therefore it is basically just a matter of figuring out who was behind it all.
But it is precisely those nitty-gritty technical issues that a conspiracy theorist must prove. I had expected that Piper would present new and cogent counter-arguments refuting authors like Belin and Epstein. But he doesn’t even address those arguments–his only rebuttal of Belin is to say that he was Jewish. That is no argument at all. In this 657-page tome, Piper never even examines the slaying of Officer Tippit–even though this was one of the cornerstones of evidence against Oswald.
President Kennedy was definitely no friend of Israel. I have seen an independent intelligence report, published in September 1963, on the enmity caused by his refusal to support Israel’s nuclear weapons program. This could have given Israel motive, but various people and organizations disliked President Kennedy, and motive alone is not convicting evidence of guilt.
It was really the Dallas Police Department, not the Warren Commission, that made the case against Oswald. The Commission ultimately backed the findings of the Dallas police. I was never a fan of most of the men on the Warren Commission–I have in fact written quite critically on some of them–and my political views are very different from those of the late David Belin. However, in reading the Warren Commission hearings, I was surprised at how extensively it followed up on conspiracy theories and leads, based on the information available at the time. Conspiracy theorist Mark Lane was allowed to vent his views, as were conservatives such as General Edwin Walker and Revilo Oliver. I did not find the Commission was a “big cover-up,” as is so frequently charged. I invite any objective person to read the hearings, which are available online at [...]

Although I think Russell’s book is better-written, and definitely better-edited, M.C.Piper’s book is truly the last word on the assassination…so far.
As Piper himself says, there are still many questions to be answered, so hopefully he’ll write a sequel. Until then, this and Russell’s book are “it” as far as I’m concerned. He vindicates eveerything Jim Garrison did, which in itself would make the book worthwhile. Reading “On the trail of the assassins,” and his later, poignant, “Heritage of stone,” you get a sense for Garrison’s true sadness over what he found in his investigation…so for his showing the true heroism that Garrsion displayed during his investigation, and the ensuing trial, we owe Collins-Piper a debt of gratitude.
Anyone that calls this author an “anti-semite,” or a “right-wing kook,” as did some earlier (I’m sure “unbiased”) reviewers ought to have their heads (or the allegiances to America) examined. The author is neither. He’s an investigator who focused on the elephant that’s been in the damned living-room too long: Israel runs our foreign policy, and its time they were shown the “out” door to our political system. He (along with several other writers) are showing Zionism for what it really is: the most devastating, hateful movement known to mankind. Having said all this, I will follow by saying that I have Jews in my own family: aunts, uncles and cousins…”JEWS” NOT “ZIONISTS.” So before you say it, you can shove your “anti-semite” garbage. Though I’m fully Italian, I’ve probably been to more erev shabbas and sater dinners than that KNOB that called Piper an anti-semite. What a jackass!
If a policeman investigates a crime, and finds out that “the butler did it,” no one ever accuses the police of being “anti-butlers,” but as soon as you say a word against Israel, you’re an “anti-semite,” (what the hell ever that means anyway) instead of being “pro-truth.”
If you can’t stand the truth…WHEREVER it leads, then get out of the civilization. Only those who manifest hate and deceit, will hate the truth, and decieve those who search for it. “By deceit” you might “make war,” but by constantly looking for the truth, we allow ourselves to grow, and stay free.
